When you think of protector of Hawaii and its traditions, you think of Kalani. He is a proud Hawaiian waterman, lifeguard, firefighter, PWC risk management trainer and Hollywood stunt double. When Vierra was a young adult he decided he was going to become a lifeguard and gave it 110 percent. To this day Vierra works as an active serviceman of the Water Safety Task Force for both the State of Hawai’i and the island of Kauai. He’s also a board member of the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association, Program Director of Kauai’s Jr. Lifeguards, and Pacific Island representative for the United States Lifesaving Association (USLA). He continues to train elite military personnel in ocean rescue.
He has won the USLA Waterman of the Year, the Eddie Aikau Waterman of the Year award, and the Hawaiian Lifeguard Associations Waterman of the Year award. He has won multiple tandem surfing championships and travels the world competing in the International Tandem Surfing Association (ITSA) events.
He is a hunter, diver, fisherman, weight lifting aficionado and treats his body like a sacred temple. Kalani is a great role model for waterman of the future, and a great person to oversee and teach safety in Hawaii’s waters.
